Out of the Closet
Now that we've arrived comfortably in the year 2005, it's OK to admit that your favorite Modest Mouse song has been, and always will be, "Trailer Trash." It's safe to come out now. Just say the words, I know you'll feel better.

I really, really like "Trailer Trash." But, I don't know enough Modest Mouse songs to say if it's my favorite or not. Boy, do I feel better, though.
Hey! I was thinking, I don't think we disagree on as many things as you think. Or maybe it's that we both like so much stuff, that we're bound to disagree on more than most people disagree on. Cause we also do agree on a lot of stuff. Does that make sense?

Woonsocket,
While we do disagree on a great deal, I would like to think that on the most important topics, namely Bob Dylan, we concur. Not to be judgmental, but people who don't acknowledge the musical and cultural magnitude of Dylan's influence don't deserve to live. Still, every anti-Big Lebowski comment you make is like a knife in the back.

On the topic of conccurring: yes, Bob Dylan is good, as is Lebowski. As for disagreeing, I believe Custom Concern is the greatest Modest Mouse song. If you have ever been to Issaquah, WA, you can appreciate how it is the best song on an album of good songs about the existential angst of growing up in an suburban wasteland. On that same existential theme, I also like the words to Novicaine Stain. But, really, how could I choose just one? I used to be retarded for their shit (not so much anymore).

Also, Dude, "retarded" is not the preferred nomenclature. "I used to be 'mentally challenged' for their shit," please.
Andrew brings up tangentially a point I wanted to discuss anyway. Does your favorite song have to be what you consider the band's greatest? I feel the two seldom intersect. I think that "A Day In The Life" is the greatest/best Beatles song, but it isn't my favorite, if that makes sense. With this post I was merely trying to gently mock people who would claim that "Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset" or some such challenging song is the greatest ever, while secretly loving the three-chord, white trash simplicity of "Trailer Trash."
